KUNMING, China — Eleven people were killed and two others injured early Thursday morning after a test train collided with a group of railway maintenance workers in Kunming, the capital of southwestern China’s Yunnan province. State media platform Xinhua reported that the accident, which occurred at the Luoyang Town railway station, is being called the country’s deadliest train-related incident in more than a decade. The test train was reportedly conducting seismic equipment checks when it struck the workers on a curved section of the track. An official investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
