A former Bangladeshi army general and the son of a prominent war criminal has ignited controversy by suggesting that true peace for Bangladesh is contingent upon the breakup of India.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Brigadier General (retd) Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, the son of convicted Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam, made the provocative remarks during a recent online discussion. The comments, captured in a now-viral video, stated:
“Bangladesh will not see full peace as long as India does not break into pieces.”
Azmi’s statement has drawn significant attention due to his background and the history of his father. Ghulam Azam, the former chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, was convicted for his role in the atrocities, including the genocide of Hindus and pro-liberation Bengalis, committed during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The remarks, explicitly calling for the fragmentation of India, are seen as highly antagonistic and have raised concerns regarding political and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
