IDF Launches Mass Airstrikes on 100+ Hezbollah Sites in Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out an intensive wave of overnight airstrikes across Lebanon, hitting more than 100 Hezbollah targets. The operation marks a sharp escalation as Israel expands its ground footprint to counter a surge in rocket and drone attacks.

Key Target Zones

  • Southern Lebanon: The Israeli Air Force struck over 90 locations, including command centers, observation posts, and weapons caches. Multiple operatives were eliminated, including some targeted on motorcycles.
  • The Beqaa Valley: Strikes in eastern Lebanon focused on deep-set infrastructure, destroying key arms storage facilities. In the town of Machghara, a rapid-fire series of strikes was executed within seconds.

The Catalyst: “Un-Jammable” Drones

The sudden intensification comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to “press the pedal even harder” against escalating drone threats.

Intercepting these attacks has become a primary challenge for Israeli air defense:

The Fiber-Optic Shift: Hezbollah has increasingly deployed advanced, first-person-view drones guided by fiber-optic cables. Because they do not rely on standard radio frequencies, they are immune to traditional electronic jamming, making them significantly harder to intercept.

Ground Expansion & Casualties

In tandem with the aerial campaign, the IDF has pushed past the 10-kilometer deep “Yellow Line” originally established in previous truce frameworks.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, the latest strikes resulted in at least 31 fatalities across several southern towns. Mass evacuation orders were also issued for roughly 50 villages and cities, including Nabatieh.
