The major breakthrough happened during a routine inspection of a freight unit that had just rolled off a ferry arriving from Dunkirk, France.

The Breakdown of the Bust

  • The Contraband: Officers discovered approximately 145 kg of herbal cannabis alongside 7.9 kg of cannabis resin cleverly concealed within the vehicle’s cargo.
  • The Tech Behind the Catch: The illicit shipment didn’t get past Revenue’s specialized mobile x-ray scanner, which flagged suspicious anomalies inside the freight unit.
  • Arrests and Custody: A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene by An Garda Síochána. He is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Wexford Garda station.

Status: Joint investigations by Revenue and An Garda Síochána are currently ongoing.
