- The Initial Shooting: The suspect first opened fire at a residence in the Cedar Grove neighborhood, critically wounding the mother of his children.
- The Massacre: Elkins then moved to a second home where the children were located. The victims, aged 1 to 14, were shot inside the residence.
- The Escape and Pursuit: After the killings, Elkins carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint. Police intercepted him, leading to a pursuit into Bossier City, where Elkins was fatally shot by officers.
