Health officials are notifying the public of a confirmed measles case involving a diner at Arturo’s Tavern in Mahopac, New York. If you visited this location on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., you may have been exposed.

Identifying Symptoms

Measles is a highly airborne virus. Symptoms generally progress as follows:

  2. Koplik Spots: Small white spots may develop inside the cheeks after 2–3 days.
  3. The Rash: A signature red, blotchy rash typically begins on the face and moves down the body 3–5 days after the initial fever starts.

Immunity & Risk Factors

You are likely protected from this exposure if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • You have received two doses of the MMR vaccine.
  • You were born before 1957.
  • You have a laboratory-confirmed history of having measles.

The individual involved contracted the virus during international travel and is no longer contagious. The restaurant is cooperating fully with the investigation and remains open for business.
