The United States military, acting under the direction of President Donald Trump, executed two kinetic strikes on suspected drug-running vessels in the Eastern Pacific on Sunday, resulting in six fatalities.

Both vessels were transiting a known cocaine smuggling route in international waters. No US personnel were harmed during the operation.
These dual strikes are the latest action in an aggressive anti-drug campaign that began in September, bringing the total reported death toll to 75 across 19 US attacks. The campaign has recently shifted its focus from the Caribbean to the Eastern Pacific, a key region for large-scale drug movements.
The administration’s strategy has drawn bipartisan criticism, with lawmakers questioning the legal justification for the strikes and demanding evidence to support claims that the vessels are linked to terrorism. Secretary Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently held a briefing to address these national security concerns.
