Trump Slams Greta Thunberg After Israel Deportation: “She’s Just a Troublemaker”

US President Donald Trump reignited his long-running feud with climate activist Greta Thunberg, calling her a “troublemaker” with an “anger management problem” after she was deported from Israel.

Thunberg was among 479 activists arrested when Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla, a mission attempting to break the naval blockade of Gaza. Israel deported 171 activists on Monday, including the 22-year-old Swedish activist.

Trump’s Criticism

When asked about Thunberg’s pro-Palestinian activism, Trump stated:

“She is just a troublemaker. She has an anger management problem. I think she should see a doctor. If you ever watch her — for a young person, she’s so angry. She’s so crazy. You can have her.”

This echoes similar remarks Trump made back in June 2025 after Thunberg was involved in an earlier intercepted ship, the British-flagged Madleen, where she claimed to have been “kidnapped” by Israeli troops.

Thunberg’s Response in Athens

Unfazed by her detention, Thunberg arrived in Athens on Monday to a cheering crowd. She immediately delivered a strong message regarding the conflict:

“Let me be very clear — there is a genocide going on,” she told the crowd. “Our international systems are betraying Palestinians. They are not even able to prevent the worst war crimes from happening.”

She stressed that the flotilla’s goal was to act where governments have failed.

Flotilla Details and Abuse Claims

  • Arrests and Deportations: A total of 479 activists were arrested, and 341 have been expelled so far.
  • Mistreatment Allegations: Some activists deported to Turkey claimed that Thunberg was mistreated during detention, including allegedly being forced to wear an Israeli flag. Israel’s foreign ministry has dismissed reports of detainee mistreatment as “complete lies.”
