CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON — A 39-year-old tow truck operator from Richmond Hill has died after being struck by a vehicle while on duty this past weekend.

The collision occurred on Saturday, December 27, 2025, on Wellington Road 26, situated between Sideroad 27 and Sideroad 30. According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the operator was outside of their truck, actively assisting a motorist, when they were struck by a passing vehicle.
Medical Response
The operator was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, authorities confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, December 29.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was also treated at a hospital for minor injuries and has since been released.
Ongoing Investigation
Wellington County OPP are leading the investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
- Charges: No charges have been laid at this time.
- Public Assistance: Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area on Saturday to come forward.
