A public feud erupted between Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump, with Musk’s father, Errol Musk, weighing in from Moscow. Errol attributed the conflict to “a lot of stress for five months” on both sides, suggesting his son “made a mistake” by publicly challenging Trump.
According to Reuters, Errol told Russian media, “You know they have been under a lot of stress for five months – you know – give them a break. They are very tired and stressed so you can expect something like this.” He emphasized that “Trump will prevail – he’s the president, he was elected as the president. So, you know, Elon made a mistake, I think. But he is tired, he is stressed.” Errol downplayed the dispute, calling it “just a small thing” that would “be over tomorrow.”
The friction escalated when Trump stated his relationship with Musk was “finished” and warned of “serious consequences” if Musk funded Democrats against Republicans who supported the tax and spending bill. This is notable as Musk had previously been a significant financial backer of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and was even appointed by Trump to lead an effort to reduce the federal workforce and cut spending.
In a related development, Elon Musk reshared a Truth Social post from Trump that criticized California leaders for their handling of the ongoing LA riots. In the post, Trump slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom, mockingly calling him “Newscum,” and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their “absolutely horrible job.” He demanded an apology from them, stating, “These are not protesters; they are troublemakers and insurrectionists. Remember, No Masks!”
This reshare came as Los Angeles experienced intense clashes after Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops using Title 10, a special federal law allowing presidential control over National Guard forces. Governor Newsom, however, strongly criticized Trump’s deployment as “unlawful” and a “serious violation of California’s rights,” asserting that control of the National Guard falls under the state governor’s purview.
