Trump to Set “Red Line” for Hamas on Gaza Ceasefire Deal

The White House announced that President Donald Trump will ultimately determine the deadline, or “red line,” for Hamas to accept a comprehensive US and Israel-backed proposal to halt fighting in Gaza.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed the President would draw this line, though she did not confirm if the three-to-four-day timeframe Trump had suggested earlier in the week would be strictly enforced. Leavitt called the 20-point plan “comprehensive” and “applauded all over the world,” urging Hamas to accept it.

Hamas is currently reviewing the proposal, but sources indicate the militant group is unlikely to accept a central demand: disarmament.

Key Provisions of the Gaza Ceasefire Proposal

The 20-point plan details a multi-step process for ending the conflict and reconstructing Gaza:

  • Immediate Ceasefire & Prisoner Swap: Fighting would cease immediately upon acceptance. Israel would begin withdrawing forces as Hamas releases all hostages within 72 hours. In exchange, Israel would release Palestinian prisoners, including women and children.
  • Disarmament and Governance: Hamas would be required to relinquish all military control and governance.
  • International Administration: Gaza’s reconstruction would be managed by a transitional technocratic administration under an international “Board of Peace,” chaired by President Trump and including figures like former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
  • Long-Term Goals: The plan includes a phased Israeli withdrawal, deployment of an International Stabilisation Force, expanded humanitarian aid, and an economic plan to transform Gaza into a “terror-free zone.”
