Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has lauded the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure, stating it will benefit everyone by creating jobs and strengthening the domestic market.1 Speaking at the launch of a ‘NaMo marathon’ for youths, he said the revised tax slabs, which became effective on Monday, will make everyday items more affordable.2

Lower Taxes, Higher Purchasing Power

According to the CM, the central government has reduced the tax burden on a range of products, including daily use food items like milk, yogurt, curd, ghee, and cheese.3 The changes also apply to two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and construction materials.4 Adityanath believes these reductions will lead to increased purchasing power, empowering consumers and creating new job opportunities for traders and entrepreneurs.5

Promoting a Drug-Free and Empowered Youth

CM Adityanath also launched the ‘NaMo marathon,’ a run dedicated to the country’s progress.6 The event, which took place from Kalidas Marg to the 1090 crossing, was intended to support a drug-free society. He reminded the gathering of other successful national initiatives like the World Yoga Day and Khelo India, which have had a positive impact on young people. The CM urged youth to choose a positive path in life and avoid vices.

‘Sewa Pakhwada’ and Community Service

Looking ahead, Adityanath announced that the BJP will celebrate a ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ (service fortnight) on Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birthday.7 The initiative will include blood donation camps organized by the party’s youth wing across 75 districts. Party workers have also been asked to host health camps and cleanliness drives in collaboration with government agencies.8 The CM concluded by emphasizing that healthy and educated women are crucial for an empowered society.
