The discovery of skeletal remains belonging to three young children in Memphis, Tennessee, has launched a massive multi-agency investigation. Found in a wooded area near Hickory Hill, the case has garnered national attention due to the ages of the victims and the length of time the remains may have lay undiscovered.

- Initial Discovery: On March 8, a resident walking their dog discovered a human skull near Ridge Meadow Parkway.
- Expansion of Search: On April 1, specialized equipment and cadaver dogs located a second skull deep within a nearby drainage pipe.
- Additional Evidence: By April 2, forensic teams recovered a third set of remains and approximately 14 additional bone fragments.
Current Findings & Challenges
Authorities are working against a difficult forensic timeline to bring clarity to the case:
- Estimated Ages: Experts believe the children were between 3 and 7 years old at the time of their deaths.
- Length of Exposure: Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn “CJ” Davis noted the remains appear to have been in the woods for “several years,” complicating the collection of DNA and other evidence.
- Missing Persons Gap: There are currently no local missing persons reports that match the profiles of these three children, leading investigators to believe they may have been brought to Memphis from another region.
The Search for Answers
The FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) are assisting local police in cross-referencing national databases. While the cause of death has not yet been determined, officials are pleading with the public for any information regarding children who may have “vanished” from a family or social circle without explanation years ago.
