Trump Orders Immediate Resumption of U.S. Nuclear Weapons Testing, Ending Three-Decade Moratorium

In a significant strategic reversal, President Donald Trump announced on Thursday the immediate resumption of U.S. nuclear weapons testing, ending the voluntary moratorium in place since 1992. The directive, issued via a statement on Truth Social just before a scheduled meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea, marks a renewed emphasis on nuclear capability in response to rivals.

Mr. Trump stated the decision was driven by the need to match the expanding atomic programs of Russia and China, accusing both nations of advancing their testing capabilities.

“Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately,” the post read.

He claimed the U.S. possesses the world’s largest nuclear arsenal, adding he was compelled to take the step despite the “tremendous destructive power” of the weapons. The move, if executed, would be the first live nuclear test by the U.S. in over 30 years and is expected to strain global arms control efforts. The announcement follows recent advanced nuclear system tests by Russia and U.S. intelligence warnings that China’s nuclear capability could reach near parity with the U.S. and Russia within five years.

THE UNITED STATES IS NOT STANDING STILL! We have the most Nuclear Weapons, thanks to a complete First Term renovation, but Russia (Second) and China (Coming Fast!) are cheating and TESTING. We have no choice.

I have instructed the Pentagon to IMMEDIATELY resume testing of our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis with these countries. We will be back on top, and we will stay there! This process starts NOW. Thank you for your attention to this very serious matter. A major, very successful step for American Security!
