NSW Premier Chris Minns confirmed the attack was premeditated, designed specifically to target Sydney’s Jewish community on the first day of the holiday.

Survivor’s Harrowing Account

Among the injured was a man who had recently survived the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel. He sustained a head injury during the chaos.

The survivor, who spoke to 9NEWS with a bandage around his head, recounted the horrific scene of the celebration with his family turning into a “bloodbath.”

“I got hit in the head, I’m bleeding,” he said, describing the gunfire, people scrambling for cover, and seeing “blood gushing” from his wound.

He revealed that he had arrived in Australia just two weeks prior to work with the Jewish community against anti-Semitism, adding, “I never thought I would see this in Australia.”

Police Response and Investigation

Authorities managed to neutralize the threat, confirming that one gunman was shot dead at the scene, and a second suspect was shot and taken into custody.

Police and emergency services are continuing to scour the area. They are urgently investigating an unconfirmed report suggesting a live bomb may have been planted under a pedestrian bridge.
