TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — A peaceful community in northeastern British Columbia has been shattered by a “devastating” mass shooting that left 10 people dead, including the suspect. The violence unfolded Tuesday across two separate scenes: a local residence and the town’s secondary school.

The incident began at a private home before moving to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as an emergency alert warned residents of an active shooter described as a female with brown hair wearing a dress.
By the time police secured the building:
- Seven victims were fatally wounded at the school.
- Two victims were discovered deceased at a nearby home.
- 27 individuals were treated for injuries, with two remaining in critical condition.
The Investigation
RCMP Major Crime Units are currently working to establish a motive. “This is a monumental loss for a town of this size,” a spokesperson stated, noting that the impact on the community of 2,400 people is “indescribable.”
National Reaction
The massacre has drawn reactions from the highest levels of government. Prime Minister Mark Carney canceled scheduled international travel to monitor the situation, while B.C.
