The Incident

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before 10:00 p.m. on February 15. The fire intensified so rapidly that a male resident was forced to jump from a second-story window to escape. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital.

Casualties and Damage

The fire proved fatal for one of the family’s dogs. While firefighters successfully rescued a cat from the smoke, two other pets remain missing.

Officials have provided the following assessment:

  • Property Status: The home is considered a total loss.
  • Financial Impact: Damage is estimated between $550,000 and $600,000.
  • Safety Failure: Investigators noted that a critical smoke alarm on the second floor was non-functional.

The Investigation

The Windsor Police Arson Unit believes the fire was intentionally set, starting on the rear deck before spreading into the home’s structure.

Authorities are urging neighbors to review security or dashcam footage recorded between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Arson Unit or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
