PM Modi’s Call to Action for NDA MPs: Promote GST 2.0 and ‘Make in India’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a clear directive to NDA Members of Parliament (MPs): actively promote the new GST reforms and the “Make in India” campaign. During a recent meeting, he emphasized that these initiatives are crucial for easing the tax burden on citizens and stimulating economic growth.
Educating on GST 2.0
With the new GST 2.0 system set to launch on September 22, the Prime Minister has tasked MPs with a critical mission. He urged them to hold 20 to 30 conferences in their constituencies to educate local traders and shopkeepers. The goal is to explain the benefits of the simplified tax structure, which introduces two primary slabs of 5% and 18%.
According to PM Modi, this revised system will lower taxes on essential goods, vehicles, appliances, and healthcare services. He contrasted this with the pre-2014 period, where taxes on basic goods and services ranged from 17% to 28%. The changes are intended to increase affordability, boost household savings, and support broader economic growth.
Promoting ‘Make in India’
In addition to tax reform, the Prime Minister called on MPs to champion indigenous products. He directed them to organize local fairs between Navratri and Diwali to promote goods made in India. These events should highlight the work of local artisans and small enterprises, encouraging the public to take pride in buying “Swadeshi” products.
Other Updates
In a separate development, the scheduled NDA dinner was postponed by PM Modi due to severe flooding in Punjab and other regions. He stated that it was inappropriate to hold a celebratory event while people were facing hardships.
