Noida Cyber Police Busts ₹1.8 Crore GST Fraud; Former Employee Arrested

Police in Noida have arrested a former employee of a private firm, Abhinav Tyagi, for a GST fraud scheme. Tyagi allegedly generated fake invoices totaling around ₹10 crore to fraudulently claim an input tax credit of ₹1.8 crore.

The accused, who previously worked in the company’s accounts section and handled tax filings, is believed to have worked with an accomplice to carry out the fraud. The arrest was made by the Cyber Police in Noida.

Authorities seized several items from Tyagi, including four mobile phones, eight SIM cards, a laptop, a car, and various GST documents. A case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Tyagi has been sent to jail, and efforts are underway to arrest his accomplice.

This arrest is part of a series of recent GST fraud cases. In a separate incident in August, two men were arrested for creating fake e-way bills and documents worth an estimated ₹1,300 crore. Additionally, the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) department in Pune arrested two company directors for fraudulent Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims amounting to approximately ₹50 crore.
