MCD Extends SUNIYO Property Tax Amnesty Until December 31, Adds 2% Late Fee.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended its property tax amnesty scheme, SUNIYO 2025-26, for three months, until December 31.

The one-time scheme, officially the Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO), was originally set to end on September 30.

Scheme Success So Far

Since its launch on June 1, the SUNIYO scheme has driven a significant increase in tax compliance:

  • Taxpayers Participated: 1.16 lakh
  • Revenue Generated: ₹370.27 crore
  • New Taxpayers: 65,874 contributed ₹187.8 crore, paying tax for the first time.

Overall Financial Impact

MCD’s total property tax collection for the current financial year (2025-26) now stands at ₹2,111.63 crore from 11.63 lakh taxpayers, representing a 22.5% increase in revenue and 18% growth in the taxpayer base compared to the same period last year.
