Vancouver police are investigating the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl whose body was discovered in an East Vancouver home on Tuesday morning, just hours after she was reported missing from North Vancouver.

The timeline began on Monday, December 29, when the teenager was reported missing to the North Vancouver RCMP. Following a digital trail, police tracked the girl’s cellphone pings to a specific neighborhood in East Vancouver.
VPD officers conducted an intensive door-to-door search throughout Monday night. At approximately 9:00 AM on Tuesday, the search ended when officers entered a residence near East Pender and Renfrew streets and located the deceased teen.
Ongoing Investigation
The case has been handed over to the VPD’s Major Crime Section. At this stage, several questions remain unanswered:
- Cause of Death: A definitive cause of death has not yet been established.
- Potential Criminality: Detectives are working alongside the Forensic Identification Unit to determine if foul play was involved.
- Privacy: The victim’s identity is being withheld out of respect for the family.
Appeal for Witnesses: The Vancouver Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Pender and Renfrew area between Monday night and Tuesday morning to call 604-717-2500.
