Barrie’s Tamarack Woods community remains under a heavy police presence this week as forensic investigators work to piece together the final moments of a 10-year-old boy found dead in his home on New Year’s Eve.

The investigation began as a routine wellness check on the afternoon of December 31, 2025. When officers arrived at the townhouse on Bayview Drive, they were forced to enter the residence, where they discovered the child deceased.
Also found at the scene was the boy’s 47-year-old mother. While she was not physically injured in a typical sense, witnesses described her as being in a semi-conscious or unresponsive state. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
