Indian National Charged in Ohio Pursuit Following Deaths of Teen and Unborn Child

A 33-year-old Indian national, Tarsem Singh, is facing multiple felony charges in Darke County, Ohio, after a high-speed police chase ended in a fatal head-on collision. The crash resulted in the deaths of a 17-year-old pregnant passenger and her unborn child.

The Incident and Fatal Collision

The event unfolded in late March 2026 when local deputies attempted to pull over Singh’s Range Rover for traveling at 100 mph. Singh reportedly refused to stop, leading authorities on a pursuit where speeds reached upwards of 120 mph.

The chase concluded tragically when Singh’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Jeep Cherokee head-on. Ashlee Holmes, 17, who was a passenger in Singh’s vehicle, was killed in the impact. Medical officials confirmed that her unborn child also did not survive the crash. The driver of the second vehicle was treated for injuries.

Singh appeared in court via video link, where he entered a plea of not guilty. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond. The formal indictment includes:

  • Involuntary Manslaughter (Two counts)
  • Reckless Homicide (Two counts)
  • Felony Vehicular Assault
  • Failure to Comply with a Police Order

Immigration Status and Deportation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has identified Singh as an undocumented individual and has officially placed a detainer on him.

This detainer ensures that regardless of the outcome of his criminal trial—whether he posts bond or completes a prison sentence—he will be transferred into federal custody. ICE officials have emphasized that this measure is in place to ensure Singh remains in custody to face deportation proceedings after the local legal process concludes.

Singh’s next court appearance is scheduled for early April 2026.
