History Made: Penny the Doberman Claims the 150th Westminster Crown!

Officially known as GCHP CH Connquest Best Of Both Worlds, Penny beat out over 2,500 competitors to take home the purple-and-gold ribbon on this historic 150th anniversary.

The Highlights

  • A Doberman Dynasty: Penny is only the fifth Doberman to win the top prize in the show’s long history, ending a 37-year drought for the breed.
  • A Full-Circle Win: Her handler, Andy Linton, also handled the last Doberman to win Westminster (Indy) back in 1989. Talk about a legendary comeback!
  • The Runner-Up: Cota, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, took home Reserve Best in Show, marking the highest finish ever for his breed at Westminster.

The Final Seven

Penny faced stiff competition in the final ring, ultimately edging out these group winners:

  • Sporting: Cota (Chesapeake Bay Retriever)
  • Hound: Zaida (Afghan Hound)
  • Toy: Cookie (Maltese)
  • Non-Sporting: JJ (Lhasa Apso)
  • Herding: Graham (Old English Sheepdog)
  • Terrier: Wager (Smooth Fox Terrier)

Off the Clock

Despite her regal presence in the ring, Penny’s owners describe her as a “total sweetheart” who is highly food-motivated and loves to please her family at home.
