The Ceremony Schedule
The day’s events are designed to balance the public’s desire to mourn with Bardot’s own request for a modest departure:
- Religious Service: A funeral mass is being held at 10:00 GMT at the Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption.
- Public Access: To accommodate the thousands of admirers in the village, the service is being livestreamed on giant screens at the Port of Saint-Tropez and the Place des Lices.
- A Final Procession: A public homage is taking place in the La Ponche district, the historic heart of the village that served as the backdrop for the film that made her a star, And God Created Woman.
The Burial Site
While Bardot famously hoped to be buried on the grounds of her private estate, La Madrague, she will instead be interred at the Cimetière Marin (Marine Cemetery).
A Peaceful Resting Place: The cemetery sits directly on the water’s edge, overlooking the Mediterranean. She will rest alongside her parents and her first husband, Roger Vadim, maintaining the “strictest privacy” for the final interment.
