The Second Facebook Privacy Settlement Payout is Arriving

A second round of cash is officially heading to eligible Facebook users following the massive $725 million data-privacy class-action lawsuit.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

The lawsuit claimed Facebook improperly shared user data with third-party brokers (including Cambridge Analytica). While Facebook’s parent company, Meta, denies any wrongdoing, the court has authorized the redistribution of leftover funds.

The Timeline

  • Distribution Starts: June 9, 2026.
  • Duration: Payments will roll out in batches over approximately four weeks.
  • Heads-Up Email: You will receive an official notification email 3 to 4 days before your specific payment is processed.

Who Qualifies for the Second Round?

Eligibility for this specific payout is highly restricted. You qualify if, and only if, you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You submitted a valid claim form by the original August 25, 2023 deadline.
  • You were approved and received a first payment in the fall of 2025.
  • You successfully cashed your initial check or accepted your first digital payment.

Missed the 2023 deadline? You cannot file a new claim. This rollout is strictly a redistribution of uncashed/expired funds from the first round.

How Much Will the Payout Be?

Because this pool consists entirely of leftover, unclaimed money from the first round, the payout is much smaller:

  • First Payout (Fall 2025): Averaged roughly $30.
  • Second Payout (June 2026): Expected to be between $5 and $7.
  • Action Required: None. The money will automatically be sent via the same payment method you used previously (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Direct Deposit, or Check).

Security Alert: Avoid Payout Scams

With millions of dollars moving around, scammers are actively targeting consumers with fake texts, emails, and social media links.

Protect yourself by remembering that the official settlement administrators will NEVER:

  • Send you a text message.
  • Ask for your Social Security Number.
  • Ask for an administrative fee to “release” your cash.
  • Demand a driver’s license to verify your identity.
