Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Patna Zonal Office has conducted search operations on 13.08.2025 at
07 locations in Gurugram, Ranchi, Naharlagun, Namsai and Muzaffarpur in case of illegal supply of liquor in
the state of Bihar. During these searches cash to the tune of Rs. 75.6 Lakh, several incriminating material,
documents and digital devices were recovered and seized.
ED initiated investigation on the basis of various FIRs and chargesheet under the provisions of Indian
Penal Code, 1860 by Bihar Police against M/s Sunil Bhardwaj and others for illegal supply of liquor in the state
of Bihar.
ED investigation revealed that Sunil Bhardwaj operates M/s Kala AMB Brewery and Distillery Pvt Ltd in
Solan, Himachal Pradesh and in connivance with his associate, Dorjee Phuntso Khrime from Arunachal
Pradesh, he established multiple entities to secure licenses for setting up distillery units and operating liquor
shops in Arunachal Pradesh so that they can be utilized to illegally supply liquor intended for consumption in
Arunachal Pradesh, into Bihar and other states. Additionally, they leveraged these associated entities to open
multiple bank accounts to receive payments from buyers of the illegally supplied liquor in Bihar, thereby
generating Proceeds of Crime.
In this case properties to the tune of Rs. 9.31 Crore have already been attached on 05.12.2023. Further,
a Prosecution Complaint in this case has been filed on 19.05.2025.
In the current searches, several incriminating documents including handwritten diaries and ledgers
pertaining to illegal liquor sales, Tally Accounts, property documents and cash of Rs. 75.6 Lakh were found
and seized.
