ED Attaches Property in Uttarakhand Forest Corruption Case

Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Dehradun has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC)
before the Hon’ble Special Court (PMLA), Dehradun against Kishan Chand, the then
Divisional Forest Officer, Brij Bihari Sharma, the then Ranger, Akhilesh Tiwari, the then
DFO & Mathura Singh Mavdi, the then Ranger, Uttrakhand in the case of Brij Bihari Sharma
& others under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
ED initiated investigation on the basis of FIR and Chargesheet filed by the Vigilance
Establishment, Dehradun, Uttarakhand under various sections of IPC, 1860, Forest
Conservation Act, 1980, the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and Prevention of Corruption
Act, 1988. Subsequently, on the directions of Hon’ble Court, CBI re-registered the case in
FIR No. RC0072023A0008 on 11.10.2023 and filed a Chargesheet in the matter.
Further, ED investigation revealed that the accused Kishanchand and others had
constructed various illegal structures in the Corbett National Park without taking prior and
requisite approvals from the competent authority.
Earlier this month, ED Dehradun had provisionally attached immovable property
valued at Rs.1.75 Crore (approx.) under the provisions of PMLA, 2002 registered in the
name of Rajlaxmi Sharma, wife of Brij Bihari Sharma and Abhishek Kumar Singh &
Yugendra Kumar Singh, both son of accused Kishanchand.
