CBIC Extends GSTR-3B Filing to August 27 for Five Maharashtra Districts

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has extended the deadline for filing the GSTR-3B return to August 27 for taxpayers in several Maharashtra districts. The affected districts are Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar.

This extension comes as a relief for businesses that were hampered by incessant rains and disruptions in public life. According to a Finance Ministry notification dated August 20, 2025, businesses in these areas can now file their returns by the new deadline without facing late fees or penalties.

What is GSTR-3B?

GSTR-3B is a simplified monthly return that all normal and casual taxpayers must file to declare and pay their GST liabilities.

How to file GSTR-3B

Taxpayers can file the return online by logging into the official GST Portal and navigating to Services > Returns > Returns Dashboard. From there, you can select the relevant financial year and tax period to proceed with filing.
