Arrest Made in 2024 Brampton Homicide

Peel Regional Police have apprehended a suspect wanted for a fatal shooting that took place nearly two years ago. Winardo Winteria Morris, 41, was arrested on February 9, 2026, ending a lengthy search conducted under a Canada-wide warrant.

Case Overview

The charges stem from an incident in the early hours of May 11, 2024. Police responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Kennedy Road and Stafford Drive in Brampton.

  • The Victim: Dayne Gordon, 43, of Toronto.
  • The Scene: Gordon was discovered inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
  • Outcome: Despite being rushed to a trauma center, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Legal Proceedings

Morris is currently facing a charge of First-Degree Murder. He is being held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
