Union Home Minister Amit Shah has embraced India’s digital self-reliance push by switching his email platform to the homegrown service, Zoho Mail.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Shah announced the change on Wednesday, directing all future correspondence to his new ID: amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in.
This move is a major win for the “swadeshi” or ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) campaign, which has accelerated due to US tariff pressures. Zoho, an Indian software suite, is being promoted as a domestic alternative to foreign platforms like Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. Other officials, including IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, have also adopted Zoho’s tools for official work, with the Education Ministry instructing its departments to follow suit.
The announcement gained extra attention for its closing line: “Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.” This phrase, widely recognized as a signature sign-off of President Donald Trump on social media, immediately sparked chatter and memes online.
Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu celebrated Shah’s endorsement, stating that it validates the two decades of hard work by the company’s engineers who stayed and built the platform in India.
