Residents in the following locations should be ready to leave at a moment’s notice:
- Low-lying areas south of Chilliwack Lake Road and O’Byrne Road.
- Properties between the Chilliwack City boundary and Allison Pool.
- The Paulsen Road subdivision and all floodplain lands stretching toward Chilliwack Lake.
The Danger Level
The BC River Forecast Centre has upgraded the region to a Flood Watch. Current projections suggest river flows could reach 20 to 50-year highs. These conditions create a significant risk of:
- Sudden bank erosion and instability.
- Localized flooding of homes and access roads.
- Landslides or debris flows in steep terrain.
