LONDON — Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the tragic death of an 18-day-old baby girl in central London on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 7:30 AM on March 14 to reports that an infant had fallen from a height at a residential building on Horseferry Road. Despite the efforts of paramedics and specialized trauma teams, the newborn was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Current Status of the Investigation
- Arrest Made: A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. She is currently being held in police custody for questioning.
- Domestic Context: Lead investigator Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell confirmed that the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death, describing it as a “domestic” incident.
- Forensic Search: Police cordons remained in place throughout the weekend at the Peabody Estate, where forensic teams were seen examining a third-floor balcony.
