The search for two “armed and dangerous” suspects ended with two different outcomes:
- One Suspect Deceased: Police located the first suspect dead at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
- One Suspect Captured: 24-year-old Landin Andrew Louise Oshkineegish was apprehended without incident shortly thereafter.
Background on the Crisis
The town was effectively frozen on Wednesday evening after a fatal shooting occurred near Don Park. With two masked gunmen at large, local schools were shuttered and residents were urged to lock their doors and stay away from windows while tactical units searched the area.
Legal Proceedings
Oshkineegish has been formally charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody and is expected to appear before a judge in Fort Frances on March 13, 2026.
