IndiGo Extends Suspension of Central Asia Flights Until Feb 11

NEW DELHI – Citing ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, IndiGo has announced the extension of flight cancellations to four major destinations in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Initially paused following recent escalations involving Iran, the suspension is now effective until at least February 11, 2026.

Key Highlights

  • Affected Routes: All scheduled flights to Almaty, Baku, Tashkent, and Tbilisi are grounded.
  • Reason for Delay: The airline is prioritizing passenger safety due to the volatile nature of the airspace surrounding Iran. Technical constraints on narrow-body aircraft (A320neo) make long-range rerouting difficult for these specific paths.
  • Operational Stance: IndiGo continues to monitor the situation daily, noting that the resumption of services depends entirely on a de-escalation of regional conflict.

Passenger Information

IndiGo has activated its “Plan B” policy to assist travelers whose trips have been disrupted:

  • Refunds: Passengers are eligible for a full refund of their booking.
  • Rescheduling: Flights can be moved to a later date without additional change fees (subject to availability).
  • Communication: Travelers are advised to check their registered mobile numbers and emails for direct notifications from the airline.

Note: Other Indian carriers are currently using alternative air corridors for European routes, but Central Asian routes remain more sensitive to the current airspace closures.
