BURNABY, BC – Investigators have identified Dilraj Singh Gill, 28, as the victim of a targeted shooting that took place on the evening of January 22, 2026. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has linked the incident to the volatile gang war currently impacting the Lower Mainland.

- The Shooting: Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 3700 block of Canada Way at approximately 5:30 p.m. Gill was located with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The Getaway: A vehicle was found engulfed in flames shortly after in the 5000 block of Buxton Street. IHIT confirmed the fire was an intentional attempt to destroy evidence, a hallmark of professional gang hits in the region.
The Investigation & Gang Links
- Rival Groups: Gill is allegedly associated with the UN Gang (specifically the Kang/BIBO faction).
- Retaliation Theory: Police are investigating if this was a “tit-for-tat” response to the murder of Navpreet Dhaliwal, a reported Brothers Keepers associate killed in Abbotsford earlier this month.
- Spike in Violence: This marks the fourth gang-related homicide in British Columbia since the start of 2026.

IHIT is seeking dashcam footage or witness accounts from anyone in the following areas between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on January 22:
- Canada Way (Boundary Rd to Willingdon Ave)
- Buxton Street (near Royal Oak Ave)
